The Texas Building Branch of AGC hosted a very impressive past presidents dinner on Tuesday night of legislative week also honoring 2006 outgoing president Stan Cotgreave of the Panhandle Chapter of AGC. On Wednesday AGC members met, were briefed on pending legislation, and proceeded to the capitol to visit state officials and express our views. President Eddy Hankins and myself met with Warren Chisum in his office offering our appreciation for his work in the Texas Legislature on bills impacting the construction industry. After making our rounds to other legislators our team was honored to have lunch on the Capitol Grounds with Representative John Smithee. The buffet style meal ,open to all, was filled with informative conversation and donated by the Association of General Contractors . There were approximately 1000 persons taking advantage of the beautiful weather and the generosity of the AGC for the luncheon.
All in all it was a very informative and rewarding experience for myself and will be a great prelude to the AGC National Convention to be held in San Antonio the third week in March.
